The North Harbour Business District is one of the fastest growing commercial areas in Auckland, New Zealand. The growth of the area over the last ten years has been significant and the area will continue to be an important employment hub for the foreseeable future.
In July 2008 North Harbour became a Business Improvement District (BID) following the successful ballot of businesses in the area. The North Harbour BID area is generally bounded by Rosedale Road to the north, State Highway 1 to the east, Upper Harbour Highway to the south and Albany Highway to the west. It contains some 1300 businesses, employing more than 13,000 people. The extended North Harbour business area of Apollo Drive and surrounding streets encompasses a further 600 or more businesses.
The BID is managed by the executive of the North Harbour Business Association comprised of elected North Harbour business people ensuring North Harbour's BID programme operates efficiently and works towards meeting its objectives. The BID is given formal recognition within the city and has guaranteed funding.
The targeted rate ensures that the Association has an increased profile, permanent staff resource and the funds to deliver a range of business services it for and on behalf of NHBA members.
Key initiatives include the BIZWatch Crime Prevention programme, the TED transport management association and a number of different networking events. This website will provide you with further details on the activities of the North Harbour Business Improvement District.
