The Albany Business Association (ABA) was formed in 2002/3 to represent the interests of businesses in the North Harbour Industrial Estate.
Of primary concern at that time was crime prevention due to the high number of recurrent commercial burglaries being sustained by businesses in the area.
This lead to the formation of the original business association Albany Basin Business Association ABBA.A successful Crime Prevention Scheme was developed as the founding business service which significantly reduced crime in the area. The closure of William Pickering Drive from Upper harbour Highway was a further catalyst in the ongoing development of the Association as a voice for local businesses.
In 2008 ABA successfully became a Business Improvement District (see attached map below) under the North Shore City Council gudelines. and in 2009 changed its name to North Harbour Business Association.
